You get tubes of repair compound in 3 different colours (chocolate, walnut and tan) and 2 smaller tubes (black, white). Not sure about sizes but maybe the larger ones are 50ml or 75ml. Also included: a couple of brushes in different sizes, one plastic spatula, mixing tub, plastic gloves and finally a 10sqcm piece of white fabric to use on rips larger than 1/4in. There's a leaflet with instructions, including a grid for mixing the colours to best match the leather product you're repairing. I used the product on the arm of a dark brown/tan leather chair which had cracks which were hard to miss as they were in a much lighter colour. First you need to clean the surface with alcohol. I used surgical spirit (which dislodged quite a bit of dirt), then applied the compound (which has the consistency of acrylic paint). When dry I could still see where the cracks were. They just were less obvious because I'd covered them up with the coloured compound. Instructions suggested I apply more layers (which I did) and then rub off with alcohol again. Because the compound looks matte when dry, there was a final recommendation to apply waterproof leather polish or wax at the very end to match the shiny finish of the rest of your product. The online description said I should be able to achieve 'premium upholstery look as good as the day you bought them'. I didn't but it looks better than before. I guess prevention is better than cure and I should have better cared for the chair in the first place by conditioning it and keeping it moisturised.

STARTSO WORLD Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit: I had a small right angled tear on the back seat of my car, so was delighted to receive this. It’s interesting as you have to blend the colour to match, which is a little tricky but at least you stand a better chance of getting a truer match than buying a patch - I tried that and couldn’t match it well. It’s fairly easy to use once you’ve worked out the colour matching and the kit provides every that is required to adhere the patch neatly. I’m very pleased with my repair, it fades in and is barely noticeable unless you know it’s there and it seems fairly well bonded and will hopefully last, preventing any further damage. It was priced at about £17 when ordered, although it isn’t priced currently, so hard to say if it’s good value. I think it was at the original price but obviously not clear about future pricing.

Used on my sofa leather seats on a rip/ worn seat, very happy with the results, it has stuck down the rip to the seat very well, colour matched very well after a lot of messing arund! And the rip in my seat was about 3 inches X 2 inches wide and ripped in several places in that area. It needs filling again to smooth out the dips but very happy with the result.

This leather and vinyl repair kit is simple to use. I read the instructions and then ignored the bit where it said test in an inconspicuous area. It worked out fine for me but I don’t recommend you do the same. I had some scratch marks on the arm of a sofa from an overexcited dog. Thankfully our sofa isn’t a solid colour so it was easy enough to match. I didn’t fully mix the dye so I had chestnut and chocolate patches that would come through. It worked really well. It does dry slightly lighter than the colour you apply. I wiped it off soon after because I couldn’t wait to see the results. See the photos. I’ve not used anything like this before. For me it worked well so I’d recommend. I’ve got many more aged areas on the sofa. I’ll get to work on them when I get the time. I’d buy this product again.

I’m impressed! Bought the “brown repair kit” to repair a three way tear on an old (but much used and loved) leather couch. There were three “slits” in a star pattern, each about an inch long. Ugly. I had a local repair service look at it and they stitched it up, which stabilized the rips for the moment, but the threaded area looked awful and I was worried that over time the stitches would pull out or tear the material and open up again. So I used the repair kit to “paint” the stitched area and take the “sin” off the stitches. My comments: 1) the color match is pretty darn good right out of the tube. Definitely apply a thin coat first and wait for it to dry as the color darkens somewhat. 2) adjust the color for the remaining coats as needed. But be sure to apply thin coats. Many thin coats make a better repair than a thicjk coat all at once. 3) Matching the texture of the base leather is a hit or miss task. Given the threading I was trying to cover up it was impossible to match textures. But the repair materials filled the thread pattern and “locked” the stitches which now show no sign of movement. This is probably best for small repairs, but my couch looks pretty good, much better than having an open set of tears. And as it would cost about $5000 to replace the couch this was a bargain! Recommended!
